Noe Valley Pet of the Month - June
Greetings from the pet corner of noevalleytimes.com!
This month we feature Kaya, a border collie mix with a lot of smarts and energy. Her human, Deanna, works in Noe Valley and adopted Kaya a little over two months ago. This time we will hear from Kaya’s perspective.
How did you find Deanna?
The story goes that she saw a video of me in an Orange County shelter and decided to have her family rescue me. We drove a long 10 hours to get to my new home in San Francisco.
Do you have any favorite places you wish you could go every day?
The beach is my favorite place right now. Ocean beach is soooo big, I can run for miles. Crissy Field is very pretty and I see a lot of friends to play with on our strolls. Unfortunately, we cannot go to Fort Funston for a while since I scared Deanna by almost going down the HUGE cliff on the begging of our first walk there.
What is your favorite thing to do when Deanna wakes up in the morning?
Snuggle time! It’s the best!!
Do you have any talents you would like to share with us?
My human likes to teach me tricks and I am pretty quick to pick them up. Currently, we are working on sit-up and weaving through her legs. I LOVE learning new things.
If you could do anything in the world, what would it be?
That would probably be an agility course or to try my paw at sheep herding since my body was made for that kind of high energy activity. Plus, what an adrenaline rush that would be!
Are you a picky eater?
Yes, I enjoy variety when it comes to my cuisine.
How do you let Deanna know she’s done a poor job of choosing your food?
I’ll give Deanna some compelling looks then eat a tiny bit. But the best way to get her to notice is to let out some very stinky fluffs while we are in the car with the windows up.
If you could meet any Dog in the world, who would it be?
Though he is not a dog, Babe is my hero. He learned to herd sheep without being cruel and is very good at it. I want to emulate Babe when I get my chance on the green.
